Every season in Chinese medicine correlates to an organ system. Summer is the season of the heart. I just wanted to share some quick information about this to help us all stay in balance. During this time it is very easy for us to overheat and become dehydrated. This can decrease the yin (moisture) of the heart. When the heart yin becomes deficient we are more prone to emotional lows and depression or irritability; we have less loving nature to give to others. For this reason, it is very important for us to stay well hydrated, not overexpose ourselves to excessive heat, and to eat cooling, moist food and drinks like watermelon, cucumber, and cooling mint teas. If you start feeling out of sorts emotionally this summer don't hesitate to reach out so that we can herbally support your physical and emotional body as well.
