These gorgeous forget me knots remind me of a couple quick tips!
1. If you are having an issue with task initiation create your own fun phrase or borrow one you like!
“Go, go, Gadget Go!”
“Hello Barbie! Let’s go Barbie!”
Any phrase that makes you laugh or inspires you can work! As you are stalling or doom-scrolling start using that phrase and go do a simple 10 second task. Eventually your brain will learn that this phrase requires action! The more you train your mind to use it the more powerful it becomes!
2. If forgetting important papers or keys is an issue for you, place them by something beautiful! A pretty dish by the door for your keys, a beautiful folder to keep important papers, or even papers placed under the edge of a bouquet of flowers will help provide a visual memory of where you placed things.
Or if functionality is more important than aesthetics then I’ll share that the back of my front door has magnets with clips to keep all the important papers or membership cards from ending up in stacks! It isn’t the prettiest but in a house with 3 teens it sure cuts down on my mental load and stress!
3. Emotional control can be hard when we are overtired, overstimulated and just worn out. Just like you would be kind to your toddler dealing with big emotions be kind to yourself! Do you need a time out? Do you need to go for a walk? A snack? A drink of water?
Keep some coloring sheets around! They are so good for helping us quietly process our emotions! If they work for children they can work for you!
Every day of our life is just a series of choices and decisions. We can choose what kind of life we want to live! Ready to meet your life in a new way? Let’s talk!
