As for me I came back reminded how so many people have dealt with emotional health issues and trauma and reminded how herbal medicine bridges mind, body, and spirit. While some clients only are ready to go "skin deep" I am here to help those who are ready for deeper healing as well. I am here to support you wherever you are on your healing journey.
This year my family and I were so lucky to be able to travel to Durango, Colorado for the annual Plant Healer's Convergence/Good Medicine Confluence. It was four and a half days filled with classes that covered topics such as herbal best practices, providing trauma informed care, and fun light-hearted classes like painting botanicals. This particular conference was one I have looked forward to going to for years as it is open and accepting to all people and it is also open to families and children. My kids had even more fun than I did with all-day kid's programming that included yoga, plant walks, and creations like dream catchers, seed "bombs" and wands. For my daughter the highlight was likely the masquerade ball!

Boy this summer sure started with a bang! It got hot and it got hot fast! We were in Colorado for an herb conference for much of May and when we came back my native herbs had gone wild with growth! And I have to say while the plants are responding with enthusiasm it makes me want to wilt when we have 100° weather in May and early June! Stressful conditions kick our plants into action. Me, not so much. Luckily we humans have the ability to change our environment and get respite from the heat.
But some of you may still be feeling a bit hot and bothered or unsettled or irritable and not understanding why. Aren't we supposed to be in the bliss of summer right now? Well, yes, but the heat can unsettle us. As we enter into summer, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is considered the season of the heart. We are more prone to unsettled sleep, unsettled spirit, and unsettled emotions. If you are feeling hot and bothered and aren't handling the heat well I'd be glad to help. Or if you are feeling down or simply not fully enjoying the summer, know that you are not alone! This is something I would love to help you out with so you can get back out there and enjoy the sunshine! |
