We are being asked to act, read, listen, grow, and care for our fellow human beings. In the normal course of life, many of us just "stay in our own lane", we care about others, but may not really be faced with thinking about others and what their lives are like our how our actions impact others. What a great opportunity for us to all grow in our love for others. We can all take small actions to uplift those around us; right now this may be reaching out to seniors in our community that may need support, or donating money to a food pantry to help those who are dealing with food insecurity due to a lost job due to COVID-19. Or it may be educating friends and ourselves about the issues that face BIPOC and how we can change our communities for the better, or it may be attending rallies or events, or donating to organizations to show support of Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC).
Whatever you are doing to learn and show love to your neighbor right now or to take care of your own family, I know it might be taking its toll on you. For that reason for the next month starting today, Juneteenth in honor of the BIPOC community, and in support of those struggling during this pandemic, I am offering 30 minute New Client Intial Consultations or Follow-ups for a Free Will Donation. I am calling them Trauma and Healing: Free Will Donation and they are for anyone who needs an appointment for any reason during this time. You can make the appointment online under the Initial Consult or Follow-up categories. At the end of the appointment you will be asked how much you would like to donate for the appointment. The first $10 will be my reduced fee, and if you are in a financial position to do so, any amount over that you can choose to donate to The Union, Center for Contemporary Arts which is an arts and justice organization in North Omaha; I Be Black Girl which supports girls and women of color; the Heart Ministry Center which is a food pantry and service organization that serves North Omaha; or North Omaha Area Health Clinic which is a free clinic that serves North Omaha.
I know that when each of us is physically and emotionally at our best we can then give our best to our family and community. So if you are struggling in any way please reach out. Through this offer, you taking time to care for yourself can also be a gift to others.
Peace and love,
Kate
