Springtime News!

Greetings from Land of Milk and Honey Herbs!  It is that time of year where people are slowly moving out of hibernation and needing some direction. It is exciting to think about all that the new season will hold as we spring forth and grow.  If you are needing some support as spring unfolds I am happy to help.  We all have our challenges and can use a guiding hand from time to time to help us BE OUR BEST!

During my own hibernation these past months I have been working on ways to help my clients reach their fullest potential. In order to help more effectively I have become a certified health coach and am looking forward to sharing my knowledge with my existing clients through Land of Milk and Honey Herbs and with health coaching clients through Omaha Whole Living. Read below to learn more!

In the meantime, I'm excited to bring you some springtime news about all that is going on at Omaha Whole Living. As many of you know I created this space to provide a sense of community, with opportunities to expand your mind, learn new skills, move your body, nourish your spirit, and improve your peace and well-being.

Right now we are a group of 5 practitioners offering services and classes. I can vouch for the amazingness of each and every one of them. Check them out below and I hope you find some nourishing support that you might enjoy! Healing is a journey and best done with a team of supporters.

I love this quote by herbalist Rosemary Gladstar. It captures the essence of what Omaha Whole Living is all about:

"You can't get energy, health, and vitality from a pill, or even from a cup of herbal tea. Everyday radiant well-being, in mind, body, and soul, is a function of everyday self-care. It's a prescription for life. It's part of what you do, what you take into your body, and what you feed your mind. Radiant well-being is not taking a pill for this pain, a dose of X for that problem, a quick fix to get rid of the lethargy you're dragging around with you. Radiant well-being is, instead, finding your joy in life. Exploring your passions. Getting up from your chair and moving your body. Wiggling. Eating good food.  Playing hard and resting well. Putting your mind to work. Laughing."

Read the practitioner descriptions below to find out if any of our services can be a support to you!

Spring Cleaning Inside and Out

We are officially in Spring, and with that comes Spring Cleaning!  Last month I shared a couple videos about nourishing and cleansing the liver, an "internal" spring cleaning. We are continuing on that theme today.

Cleanse your body and your home

Fresh and lively is how we want to enter into spring!  We do this by using natural cleansers for our home and our body. Here are a couple recipes that you might use to liven up your body and your home!

The first is a calming Love Your Liver Syrup that you can easily make at home following this video. Every year I make it a little differently with my classes.  Taking care of your liver can taste good. It is easier than you think!

The second is a facial cleansing scrub that helps tighten up pores and sluff off old skin. We make this recipe in my herbal intensive class that is based on Rosemary Gladstar’s Miracle Grains recipe.

Blend together the following and store in glass jar.
2 cups white clay
1 cup finely ground oats
¼ cup finely ground almonds
¼ cup finely ground lavender
1/8 cup finely ground rose
When you are ready to use mix 2 tsp with a bit of water in the palm of your hand. Gently massage the paste on your face. Rinse when finished.

The next recipe is one to cleanse the air in your home and is a Disinfectant Room Spray.

Blend the following in a small spritzer bottle.
1 oz water
1 drop peppermint essential oil
1 drop tea tree essential oil
2 drops pine essential oil
2 drops bergamot (or other citrus) essential oil
3 drops eucalyptus essential oil
Shake well before use. Apply to hard surfaces that need disinfected or into the air in your home.  *Use with caution if you have cats in the home.  *Occasional use around children is fine.

Allergies

Spring is the most anticipated time of year after a long, cold winter like we have had. We are ready to clean out our homes and let in the fresh air. We are also wanting to get outside and get moving!  For some people though, chirping spring birds does not herald such uplifting energy.  Outside isn’t such a great place if you have allergies.  And more than a few people emerge from winter feeling heavy and already battling allergies. They need a boost!

In my recent Facebook videos I have been talking about signs of liver imbalance that can vary from spring sinus allergies, fatigue, skin conditions, menstrual irregularities, PMS, frustration, and anxiety. In Chinese medicine, all of these concerns are partially blamed on the liver.  A spring liver nourish plan or a detox plan may be called for!  If you are suffering know that these are not issues that you have to live with, I would be happy to help and it is as easy as scheduling a consultation!
