A little sun please?

A little sunshine in your life can make all the difference. When I speak of sunshine I mean literal and figurative sunshine. Nothing feels better to me than to wake up, even on a cold, snowy day, and see a bit of sun. For many people life feels challenging right now and we may be having a hard time seeing the sunshine in our lives. At times like this I encourage you to acknowledge what is causing you discomfort, physically and emotionally. Fall is the season of beginning to quiet the mind and to appreciate the abundance in our lives while also looking deeply into our core values and who we are and want to be. Fall can be a time of pause in our lives to help us see more clearly.

We don't want to focus on only what is not going well currently. We need to shift into what we want for ourselves in the future. During this mindful time our spirit needs a little sunshine. I am encouraging my clients right now to create their own little bit of sunshine by creating a JOY GOAL. A joy goal is not a "should" goal. It is a little activity or treat that gives you something to look forward to. It might be a planned night with a friend outside by a fire. It might be a decadent chocolate bar and a cup of warm tea in the quiet evening by yourself. It may be a luscious bath that pulls out all the stops; music, candles, wine. What soul nourishing moment can you create for yourself that will recharge your spirit like a ray of sunshine? Can you give yourself permission to do this one thing?

During these stressful times we all need people around us who support us in our goals. Time and finances may be tight. I encourage you to consider a quick consult ($30) or follow-up to help you shake off the overwhelm, the stress, or the despair you might be feeling. There are some basic Chinese formulas that we can easily call upon; Free and Easy Wanderer for that stress that is making you feel angry or inflexible, Tian Wan Bu Xin Dan for that heart that feels heavy, and Ren ShenYang Ying Wan for helping you to have energy and fight that feeling of overwhlem. These are tried and true formulas that we can choose in addition to a custom formulation that can help you be the best version of yourself RIGHT NOW.If you have a friend who could use a little lift, I hope that you forward them this email.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Kate

Elderberry...Your Fall Ally

Elder flower and berries are best known for their cold and flu fighting abilities. By using them at the onset of an illness, studies have shown that it greatly reduces the length of the illness. The berries and flowers have different actions on the body. We most commonly use Elder berries because in studies they have been shown to increase cytokine production and help strengthen cell walls against viral invaders. The high level of flavanoids support the body in general good health as antioxidants help the body deal with free radicals.

If the body does not respond quickly to Elder berry then a custom tincture may help.  Herbs like Lemon balm, Yarrow, and Elder flowers help the body naturally fight illness and reduce fevers as a diaphoretic. Elder flowers will produce a mild sweat which helps to sweat the virus out and reduce the fever by opening up channels of elimination through the skin and urinary tract.

All herbal product pick-ups (such as for Elder berry syrup) and consultations are by appointment. Click on the Elderberry Syrup page to schedule a pickup.
